Rotterdam Architecture Month

This Saturday, we’re opening the doors at Muziekwerf for a special event to celebrate Rotterdam Architecture Month.

This year’s Architecture Month asks what a circular city looks like. At Muziekwerf, we’ll explore what one sounds like!

Hidden near Hofplein, Rotterdam’s last Mennonite church was originally designed in the 1950s to remain out of sight. Together with Droom en Daad, we transformed it into Muziekwerf: the Netherlands’ first permanent rehearsal and concert venue dedicated to young musicians.

For this special evening, our Project Architect Franca Houg will take visitors behind the scenes for a tour. She will share first-hand insights into the transformation, from preserving the building’s post-war character and revealing its hidden qualities to the acoustic and circular interventions.

After the tour, the talented Rotterdam-based Jaydian Quartet will perform live in the grand hall, fusing jazz, gospel, hip hop, Latin, classical and African influences to get you in the mood for Saturday evening. The performance will be followed by a short Q&A on their music and what a space like Muziekwerf means for young musicians.

After the performance, stay for cold drinks, refreshing snacks and a moment to enjoy the space.

A special chance to hear Muziekwerf in use, experience the talent it was created for, and see circularity beyond material reuse: through new purpose, new energy and new audiences.

Capacity is limited. Ticket reservation is required.
